Aug. 1, 1924: Fire Leaves Two Families Homeless

The Glendora Gleaner reports that not enough fire hydrants were available to extinguish the blaze.

The Glendora Gleaner reported Aug. 1, 1924, that a fire had claimed the homes of two families on Lemon Avenue the previous Sunday.

Homes of two Mexican-American families were deemed a total loss, while another home was saved when a neighbor used a personal hose to battle the embers falling on the home.

The newspaper reported that lack of available fire hydrants kept local fire fighters from saving the two homes.
