How to Choose a Pet Sitter by The Crazy Dog Ladies

Pet sitting is a great option to keep your pets in their routine while providing a friendly, dependable face to provide care and fun while you are away. But how to choose a pet sitter?

  • Give yourself enough time prior to your trip to meet several pet sitters. Maybe a friend has referred a sitter, you have a flyer from your vet's office or ... you have seen an ad on The Glendora Patch!   ;)
  • An in-person meeting is a must! See how the sitter interacts with your pets and how they respond to the sitter. You should also "click" with the sitter.
  • Ask questions! We all know our pets are like our kids and choosing a pet sitter is like picking a babysitter. How long is a visit? What is done during the visit? Will anyone besides the pet sitter be helping with your pets? Will your key be secure?
  • Licensed and Insured? You are allowing a pet sitter in your home to take care of your beloved animals and they should have protections in place for you as well as themselves. Being properly licensed and insured is important for both parties.
  • Call those references. The potential pet sitter should also be able to provide references who you should feel free to contact and ask about their experience with the sitter.
As pet sitters, The Crazy Dog Ladies treat your animals and your home with the respect and care with which we treat our own homes. We are licensed and insured for your peace of mind as well as our own. We welcome you to contact us so you can meet us and get to know who will be caring for animals, so your pups can sniff us out and your cats can decide if a "dog" lady will be acceptable!
