Nine Glendora Unified School District students were awarded IPads and $500 scholarships by the Foundation for Glendora Unified Schools during the district’s school board meeting on Monday.
Five Glendora High School Students – Sarah Toback, Joshua Douglass, Nicholas Tsianos and Shintaro Yamamura – and Whitcomb High School student Kia Espinda, earned $500 scholarships each. The students were selected based on their “initiative, hard work and willingness to go above and beyond to benefit their community and school,” according to FGUS member Donna Smith.
Goddard Middle School students Austin Bishop and Emily Relph, and Sandburg Middle School students Micaela Lamb and Andrew Nelsen all earned new Ipad2’s.
Middle School winners were named the Titans of the year and the Spartans of the year, with schools choosing one boy and one girl from each middle school.
The winners were selected for outstanding scholarship, participation in school activities and well-rounded performance in all areas of school.

To clarify, both Goddard and Sandburg have named a male and female Titan and Spartan, respectively, for many years. The student is picked by the schools. This year, FGUS chose to award the winners with an iPad, they didn't choose the students.
