DUI Crackdown Yields More Than 2,000 Arrests

After an on intoxicated drivers ended on Labor Day, Los Angeles County law enforcement agencies ended the campaign with just over 2,000 arrests.

Officers nabbed 2,098 individuals driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol through sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols and regular routine patrols during the Avoid the 100’s summer campaign.

During the same time period in 2011, officers made 2,795 arrests.

The next anti-DUI campaign in Los Angeles County will be during the Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays. The Avoid the 100 will also conduct a Winter campaign in December, according to the Glendora Police Department, the coordinating agency of the Avoid the 100’s anti-DUI campaigns.

The Avoid the 100, an anti-DUI effort consisting of 100 Los Angeles County law enforcement agencies, coordinates all campaigns using funds through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
