Police Blotter: Vandalism, Thefts and DUIs

Police activity for the week of Feb. 27 to March 4.

Information was provided by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Feb. 27. Sgt. Matt Williams and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

12:14 a.m. - Officers conducted a pedestrian check in the 700 block of South Grand Avenue and arrested a male subject on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The subject was cited and released.

10:29 a.m. - Authorities investigated a fraud report in the 1300 block of East Gladstone Street. A late report was filed on possible identity theft with information given by San Diego Police, Williams said.

11:34 a.m. - Police investigated a graffiti report in the 400 block of East Payson Street. Blue spray paint was observed on sidewalks in the area.

3:01 p.m. - Police investigated a vandalism report at , 1600 East Foothill Blvd.


Tuesday, Feb. 28. Lt. Jamie Caldwell Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

11:20 a.m. - Police investigated a theft report in the 500 block of West Baseline Road.

10:40 a.m. - An officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of East Arrow Highway and arrested the driver on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia. The driver was cited and released.

3:43 p.m. - Authorities arrived to , 133 West Route 66 on a theft in progress. A young woman was observed by loss prevention attempting to steal Oil of Olay products, according to police. Officers arrested Cecelia Madrid, 33, on suspicion of burglary. Madrid was held in lieu of $20,000 bail before being released for a court appearance.

4:14 p.m. - Police investigated a grand theft auto report in the 1200 block of South Barranca Avenue.

Wednesday, Feb. 29, Lt. Jamie Caldwell on duty.

6:42 a.m. - Police investigated a vandalism report in the 600 block of East Lemon Avenue. Someone allegedly drove over the homeowner's lawn.

10:33 a.m. - Officers investigated a theft report on the 400 block of East Route 66. A vehicle owner alleged a license plate was stolen from the vehicle, Caldwell said.

11:49 a.m. - Police investigated a theft report in the 500 block of East Lemon Avenue. Another report of a stolen license plate was made.

1:34 p.m. - Authorities investigated a theft report in the 200 block of East Temera Lane. Potted plants were reportedly taken from the residence.

4:56 p.m. - Police investigated a burglary report in the 700 block of West Alford Street.

6:09 p.m. - Authorities investigated a theft report at , 1390 East Gladstone Street. A theft from a vehicle was reported. The suspect vehicle is described as a silver Honda van with the plates allegedly covered, police said.

Thursday, March 1. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

9:52 a.m. - Glendora Police responded to the 1600 block of South Sunflower Avenue on a reported burglary in progress. A resident alleged they observed a man attempt to kick in the door to a residence across the street. The suspect allegedly ran westbound on Plymouth Avenue towards Bonnie Cove Avenue. Officers arrived and set up a large containment from Bonnie Cove to Sunflower Avenue and from Plymouth Avenue to Gladstone Street. Officers were not able to locate a suspect. The man was described as a Hispanic male, in his 30s, 5 foot 8 to 5 feet 9 inches, wearing a black hat, blue and white striped shirt and blue jeans.

10:17 a.m. - Authorities investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 800 block of South Indian Bend.

1:22 p.m. - Officers investigated a vandalism report at , 1000 West Foothill Blvd.

2:30 p.m. - Police were called to , 940 South Grand Avenue, on a theft in progress. Store employees allege a Hispanic man, about 300 pounds, wearing a plaid shirt escaped with a few baseball bats, DeMond said. The subject sped off in a burgundy Honda Accord northbound on Grand Avenue. Officers were unable to locate the already gone suspect.

9:11 p.m. - Officers investigated a vehicle theft report at Citrus College. Two tires were allegedly stolen off a gray Chevy Tahoe in one of the parking lots.

Friday, March 2. Lt. Rob Lamborghini on duty.

3:23 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of East Route 66 and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI resulting from drugs or alcohol and possessing a syringe. The driver was cited and released.

8:36 a.m. - Officers conducted a pedestrian check in the 700 block of South Center Avenue and arrested the subject on suspicion of possessing a concealed knife. The subject was cited and released.

10:12 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop on Grand Avenue at Arrow Highway and arrested the driver on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance. The driver was held in lieu of $2,500 bail.

4:06 p.m. - Police received a report of reckless driving vehicles in the 800 block of East Foothill Blvd. and arrested the driver on suspicion of committing DUI within 10 years of committing a felony of the same offense and for driving with a suspended license. The driver was held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

6:41 p.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of South Glendora Avenue and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving without a license, failure to provide proof of insurance and failure to provide license or identification to an officer. The driver was held in lieu of $100 bail.

8:27 p.m. - Authorities investigated a theft report at Glendora High School.


Saturday, March 3. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

1:03 a.m. - Glendora Police were called to the restaurant, 316 West Route 66 on a report of a fight. According to police, bar area employees were trying to throw out a customer who refused to leave. More customers were becoming agitated as the episode progressed. Officers arrested Jose Camarena, 24, on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol. Camarena was held in lieu of $250 bail. Police arrested an additional subject, but released him after no further proceedings were desired.

1:46 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of South Vista Bonita and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI. The driver wascited and released.

1:58 a.m. - Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1800 block of West Route 66 and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI and having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. The driver was cited and released.

12:32 p.m. - Authorities arrived to the 700 block of South Washington Avenue. A caller who alleged they live in the rear property of the address reported that the occupant of the front property had interfered with access to utility services. Officers arrived and eventually arrested Douglas Prytherch, 43, on suspicion of committing a 593 penal code violation, interfering, removing, or injuring a pipeline used to transport gas or any other hazardous material. Prytherch was cited and released. On March 2, Glendora Police responded multiple times to the location on disturbance calls involving similar claims.

8:25 p.m. - Police were called to Citrus College on a fight in progress. Officers arrived and learned that Campus Safety personnel had disbursed the fight before their arrival. The altercation stemmed from a fight amongst the playing teams and around 20 people in the stands started a scuffle and tried to get on the court. Play resumed and Glendora officers remained at the college gym and parking lot after the game to maintain order, police reported. No one was arrested.

9:56 p.m. - Glendora Police responded to , 921 West Arrow Highway, on a reported fight. A bartender called alleging a fight between four subjects began in the bar and a woman was observed hitting a male counterpart. Officers arrived and arrested Barbara Dodd, 54, and Renee Bailey, 40. Dodd was booked on suspicion of inflicting corporal injury on a current or former spouse and was held in lieu of $50,000 bail, while Bailey was booked on suspicion of domestic battery and was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.


Sunday, March 4. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

1:25 a.m. - Authorities arrived to the 100 block of Glendora Avenue on a road rage incident. A man driving in a yellow Hummer allegedly "keyed" the other driver's car. The driver was known to the man whose car was vandalized. Officers eventually arrested a 17-year-old male teen on suspicion of felony vandalism.

7:45 a.m. - Police investigated a theft report in the 1000 block of East Heather Street. a GPS device was allegedly stolen from the resident's Jeep which was parked in front of the home, Ward said.

8:22 a.m. - Officers investigated a grand theft auto report in the 1200 block of East Plymouth Street. Some time between 3:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. the resident's Pontiac Bonneville was stolen. The California Highway Patrol some time later that night recovered the vehicle in Baldwin Park. A suspect has not been arrested.

10:40 a.m. - Authorities were alerted to a possible drunk driver westbound on Route 66 at Grand Avenue. A caller reported the truck driven by the suspect hit a center median as they drove. Police arrived and searched the area, eventually locating the truck at Citrus College at the swap meet. Officers arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI and having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. The subject was held in lieu of $5,000 bail.

5:34 p.m. - Officers investigated a theft report in the 700 block of East Carroll Avenue. A bicycle was allegedly stolen from the residence.
