Police Blotter: DUIs, Thefts and a New Driver Causes an Accident

Local police activity for the week of Jan. 30 to Feb. 5.

 

The following was provided by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Jan. 30, Sgt. Matt Williams and Lt. Ward on duty.

  • At 12:40 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on Mauna Loa at Grand avenues. Officers conducted a field sobriety test on the driver and had enough evidence to make an arrest on suspicion of DUI and having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. The driver was held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
  • At 4:34 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on S. Sunflower Avenue at Arrow Highway and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI and having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. The driver was held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
  • At 6:14 a.m. officers investigated a grand theft auto report in the 1100 block of E. Bradford Drive. A Jeep parked at the location reportedly disappeared sometime in the evening of Jan. 29, police said.
  • At 7:27 a.m. officers investigated a theft report in the 600 block of E. Arrow Highway. Officers determined there was an attempted theft of a catalytic converter from an older model Volvo at the residence, Sgt. Williams said.
  • At 9:38 a.m. officers investigated a grand theft auto report in the 900 block of W. Arrow Highway. A car was reportedly stolen from the location on the street. The incident was determined to be under the Los Angeles County Sheriffs jurisdiction and the agency is now handling the reported theft.
  • At 10:42 a.m. officers investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 700 block of W. Armstead Street. A purse from the locked vehicle was found along with some other property in a trash can, police said.
  • At 3:41 p.m. officers investigated a burglary report in the 1900 block of E. Auto Center Drive.

Tuesday, Jan. 31, Lt. Caldwell  and Sgt. Egan on duty.

  • At 10:30 a.m. officers investigated a theft report in the 100 block of N. Vermont Avenue. The reporting party alleges a transient stole his wallet some time during the morning of Jan. 28, Egan said.
  • At 2:35 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of S. Grand Avenue after running the license plate number and learning the vehicle was reported stolen out of Riverside County. Officers arrested Albert Abolos, 32, on suspicion of vehicle theft and on an outstanding warrant. The driver was held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
  • At 4:38 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of E. Lemon Avenue and arrested Anthony Pina, 19, on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale. Pina was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
  • At 7:28 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance call in the 1800 block of E. Route 66 and arrested Greg Orr, 53, on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol. Orr was held in lieu of $250 bail.

Wednesday, Feb. 1, Lt. Caldwell on duty.

  • At 1:53 a.m. officers were called to keep the peace on the 1400 block of S. Grand Avenue. Officers arrested the subject on suspicion on making a fictitious check and on an outstanding warrant. The subject was held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
  • At 2:20 a.m. officers located graffiti in the 300 block of E. Colorado Avenue. An officer on patrol spotted what smelled like fresh graffiti painted with purple paint on a wall along the street, police said.
  • At 11:08 a.m. officers investigated a report of public drunkenness in the 600 block of E. Route 66. Officers arrested Greg Orr on suspicion of disorderly conduct resulting from alcohol. Orr was held in lieu of $250 bail.
  • At 1:12 p.m. officers investigated a theft report in the 100 block of S. Treanor Avenue.
  • At 5:54 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1700 block of S. Grand Avenue. Officers arrested the driver on an outstanding warrant. The driver was held in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Thursday, Feb. 2, Lt. Lamborghini on duty.

  • At 9:20 a.m. officers conducted a pedestrian check on Lyman Avenue at Arrow Highway. Officers arrested a 20-year-old male on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance. The subject was held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
  • At 10:44 a.m. officers investigated a graffiti report in the 100 block of S. Glendora Avenue.
  • At 1:48 a.m. officers performed a pedestrian check in the 600 block of W. Route 66 and arrested Donna Davis, 49, on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol. Davis was held in lieu of $250 bail.
  • At 2:58 p.m. officers were called to the Best Western Hotel, 625 E. Route 66. Hotel employees alleged that Eddie Rodriguez, 29, had checked out of a room at the hotel, then laid down on a couch in the lobby and fell asleep and appeared to have been drinking. Officers arrested Rodriguez on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol and was held in lieu of $250 bail.
  • At 3:41 p.m. officers conducted a pedestrian check in the 900 block of E. Juanita Avenue. Officers arrested the subject on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The subject was held in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Friday, Feb. 3, Lt. Lamborghini and Lt. DeMond on duty.

  • At 7:58 a.m. officers investigated a residential burglary report in the 1600 block of E. Palopinto Drive.
  • At 8:58 a.m. officers conducted a pedestrian check at Ralph's, 655 S. Grand Avenue and arrested known transient Charles Addy, 55, on suspicion of trespassing. Addy was held in lieu of $500 bail. Addy has been instructed by store officials to not enter the property, DeMond said.
  • At 9:46 a.m. officers investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 300 block of W. Bennett Avenue.
  • At 10:42 a.m. officers investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 2300 block of Country Vista Drive. An iPod and other items were stolen from the unlocked 2002 Toyota, police said.
  • At 11:48 a.m. officers were called to N. Live Oak at Sierra Madre Avenues. Witnesses alleged a male subject removed gas canisters from the back of a gardener's truck, DeMond said. The witnesses took down the license plate of the suspect's vehicle and Glendora PD tracked down the suspect to a residence in the 500 block of Vermont Avenue. Officers then discovered hash oil at the residence and arrested William Bodzar, 19, of Glendora on suspicion of receiving known stolen property. Officers also arrested Mary Leochner, 50, on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale. Both subjects were held in lieu of $20,000 bail, while Leochner was eventually cited and released.
  • At 12:44 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of S. Elwood Avenue after an officer observed the driver talking on a cell phone while driving. Officers arrested the driver on suspicion of failing to provide a license to the officer and driving without a license. The driver was held in lieu of $300 bail.

Saturday, Feb. 4, Sgt. Strong on duty.

  • At 12:44 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on W. Arrow Highway at Grand Avenue and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI resulting from drugs and possession of a controlled substance. The driver was cited for $5,000 and released.
  • At 1:38 a.m. officers conducted a pedestrian check on W. Dawson at Grand avenues and arrested known transient Charles Addy, on two outstanding warrants. Addy was held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
  • At 8:56 a.m. officers arrived to Walmart, 1950 E. Auto Centre Drive and arrested Lisa Lockhart, 42, on suspicion of appropriation of lost property, petty theft with a prior and obstructing a police officer. Lockhart had in her possession credit cards and officers are trying to determine if they were stolen, Strong said. Lockhart was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
  • At 12:44 p.m. officers investigated a theft report in the 2000 block of E. Petunia Street. A telephone was stolen from the resident's garage sale, Strong said.
  • At 1:49 p.m. officers were called to the 1300 block of E. Dalton Street on a report of someone under the influence of a controlled substance. Officers arrested the subject on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The subject was held in lieu of $250 bail.
  • At 9:21 p.m. officers were called to Walmart on a theft report. A customer alleged a man in his 30s stole his cell phone from him as he exited the store. The suspect was not found.

Sunday, Feb. 5, Sgt. Egan on duty.

  • At 1:41 a.m. officers were called to Vista Bonita at Ada avenues on a report of public drunkenness. Officers found a man stumbling along the road and arrested the 44-year-old subject on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol. The subject was held in lieu of $250 bail.
  • At 1:43 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on Grand Avenue at Arrow Highway and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI, having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit and for making an unsafe lane change. The driver was cited for $15,000 and released.
  • At 5:36 a.m. officers were called to the 400 block of Sierra Madre Avenue on a disturbance call. An intoxicated family remember refused to leave, according to Sgt. Matt Williams. Officers arrested Andrew Connors, 24, on suspicion of possessing controlled substance paraphernalia. Connors was cited for $250 and released.
  • At 10:03 a.m. officers investigated a grand theft auto report in the 300 block of W. Ada Avenue. The car was parked on the street during the night and by morning the owner saw that it was taken. Officers did not find any broken glass or other obvious signs of forced entry.
  • At 11:16 a.m. officers were called to Ralph's, 655 S. Grand Avenue on another report of a transient drinking near the recycling center. Officers arrested Alfanso Tamayo, 32, on an outstanding warrant. Tamayo was held in lieu of $250,000 bail and was eventually transferred to West Valley Detention Center.
  • At 11:37 a.m. officers arrived to 765 W. Route 66 to a non-injury traffic collision. A new driver was westbound on Route 66, police said. Another vehicle was making left turn from the businesses at the location when the new driver panicked while making a right turn in the driveway to the businesses. The vehicle drove up on the planter, took out a support beam, hit a parked car, destroyed a second support beam and finally came to a rest after hitting three other parked cars, Williams said. There were no injuries, nor any indication of intoxication.
