[PHOTOS] Glendora City Council Reshuffles Its Leadership

Doug Tessitor is selected as mayor, Gene Murabito becomes Pro Tem.

The new members of city council made their first, albeit brief,  motion in selecting council member Doug Tessitor as its newest mayor and council member Gene Murabito as Pro Tem Tuesday evening at City Hall.

Before a packed room, presentations were made to out-going members Ken Herman and Terry Kent.

Herman had served as mayor and council member for nine years since joining the council following the recall election of 2002. Herman declined to seek another term to spend more time with family.

"It has been a pleasure to have served on a council of this magnitude...this makes the community what it is," Herman said, before becoming choked up with emotion. "I want to thank every citizen for honoring me with your trust and this responsibility."

Kent had replaced council member Gary Clifford after his resignation a year ago. Although the terms of his appointment prevented him from running in this year's election, Kent said he looked forward to running for a full term in the future.

"It's been fun, it's been an adventure, but it has been a sacrifice," Kent said. "But I fully appreciate it."

Newly elected council members Joe Santoro and Judy Nelson, and the re-elected Doug Tessitor were sworn in.

Tessitor has served on the council since 2003, serving as mayor from 2006-2007.
