EXCLUSIVE: Family of Slain Pit Bull Speaks
Family expressed their concerns about police procedure and what feel was animal cruelty in the shooting of their family pet, Junior.
Patch conducted an exclusive interview with the family whose Pit Bull, Junior, was by officers the night of June 11.
That night, police responded to two 911 calls of a woman screaming in the 900 block of East Myrtle Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Not knowing what the situation was, police arrived and observed two Pit Bulls, both family pets, allegedly jumping and barking at a 13-year-old girl through a window at the residence.
The teen was attacked by one of the dogs.

The officer reported both dogs moved towards him as he walked up to the house and despite commands to stop, Junior allegedly kept moving towards the officer who felt threatened. The officer eventually shot Junior, who was also run over by a patrol car to prevent it from being a threat to others after escaping to Route 66.
