Arrests Made In Commerical Window-Smash Burglaries

Duo accused of burglarizing businesses, police said.

A man and woman were arrested Wednesday in connection with a series of store burglaries in town.

Arrested were Andrew Martin, 47, and Gloria Quintero, 46, both from Ontario. The duo is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Authorities believe the suspects are involved in burglarizing 40 or more businesses in Glendora, Azusa, Covina, Diamond Bar, La Verne, Claremont, Chino, Ontario, La Palma and San Bernardino, said detectives from the Glendora Police Department.

The subjects would target small commercial businesses. Using a heavy object, such as a rock, the duo would smash through the front window of the business and steal money from cash registers, or steal the registers themselves, detectives said.

The duo was identified after surveillance footage was obtained from a Covina business that had been burglarized. High-quality images were obtained from the footage and a getaway vehicle was identified: a primer gray 1989 Chevy S-10 pickup truck, detectives said.

"A Glendora patrol officer recognized the male suspect and vehicle from a crime bulletin as a person he had stopped for a traffic violation a week earlier," said Glendora Lieutenant Brian Summers in a press release.

The suspects were located in the Capri Motel in Ontario and were arrested without incident.

The duo is expected to be arraigned at the West Covina Courthouse on Friday.
