Arizona Man Arrested in Molestation Case

Suspect charged with molesting 13-year-old Glendora boy will be arraigned in a Pomona Court April 21.

Police arrested an Arizona man in Gilbert Ariz. Thursday on suspicion of molesting a 13-year-old Glendora boy over a five-month period in 2010.

Lt. Rob Lamborghini reports that Mathew Lane Hatchard, 24, of Gilbert was arrested by police in Gilbert then returned to California by Glendora Police detectives where he is charged with child molestation. Hatchard is held in Los Angeles County Jail on $1 million bail.

Police reportedly found images of child pornography on computers owned by Hatchard and that could result in further charges against the suspect.

An arraignment hearing is set for April 21 in Pomona Superior Court.

Police reported that the boy’s family and the suspect were neighbors in Gilbert. The boy’s mother then became divorced and Hatchard helped the two of them move to Glendora.

Then, according to published reports, Hatchard moved in with the mother and boy.

The molestation was reported to police after Hatchard returned to his parents’ home in Gilbert in July of 2010. Police then wrote up a search warrant for the suspect’s residence in Gilbert.

The suspect reportedly made incriminating statements to detectives. The detectives seized his computers and later found child pornography on them.

The boy and his mother plan to move to a new home to help put the experience behind them.
